Celebrating a Conservation Legend - Dr. George Archibald at 80!
Today, Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh, in collaboration with the Save the Himalayas Foundation, celebrated the 80th Birthday of Dr. George Archibald, Co-founder of the International Crane Foundation and one of the world's most respected conservation visionaries.
The special ceremony was chaired by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder President of MIMC, who led prayers for the long, healthy, and meaningful life of Dr. George Archibald, expressing gratitude for his extraordinary service to nature, especially cranes of the world.

To honour his remarkable legacy, 15 beautifully crafted cakes were presented, each symbolizing one of the 15 species of cranes found across the globe, a heartfelt tribute to Dr. Archibald's lifelong mission to protect every crane species and the wetlands they depend upon.

For more than five decades, Dr. Archibald has inspired the world through his unwavering commitment to wildlife conservation, scientific excellence, international collaboration, and community engagement.
His pioneering work has transformed crane conservation into a global movement, giving hope not only to cranes but also to countless wetland ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.

From the sacred Himalayan landscape of Ladakh, we extend our deepest gratitude and warmest wishes to a true guardian of nature whose vision continues to inspire generations across the world.
