Faith Leaders, Educators and Communities Conclude National Workshop on Climate Action and Child Wellbeing

Leh, 17 July 2026: The two-day national workshop, "Harnessing the Power of Faith for Climate & Child Wellbeing through Mind-Heart Dialogue," concluded at the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh, with a strong commitment to advance faith-led climate action, environmental stewardship and child wellbeing.

Organised by the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance (GIWA) with UNICEF India, in collaboration with MIMC, the workshop brought together faith leaders, educators, experts, youth, students and community representatives from across India and Ladakh.

Through Mind-Heart Dialogue sessions, expert presentations and group discussions, participants explored how faith communities can complement science and public policy by promoting sustainable lifestyles, environmental responsibility and climate resilience. Students from Mahabodhi Residential School and Ladakh Rigjung Public School actively participated, highlighting the importance of youth engagement and intergenerational learning.

Concluding the workshop, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena called for continued collaboration among faith communities, government, educational institutions and civil society to translate dialogue into action. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening interfaith cooperation and community-led initiatives for a more compassionate, resilient and sustainable future.
