The Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, paid a special visit to the Mahabodhi Devachan Campus of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh, where he was warmly received by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder-President and Spiritual Director of MIMC.

Joining Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena in welcoming the Hon’ble Vice President were senior office bearers and members of MIMC, including Shri Tsering Samphel, Senior Vice President, MIMC; Padmashri Morup Namgyal, Senior Vice President, MIMC; Senior member and former Member of Parliament Shri Thupstan Chhewang; Senior members and former Chief Executive Councillors of LAHDC Leh Shri Rigzin Spalbar and Adv. Tashi Gyalson; and senior member Shri Jigmet Takpa, IFS (Retd.).

The Hon’ble Vice President was accorded a warm and enthusiastic welcome by the staff, members, and students of MIMC, who lined up across the campus to greet him on his arrival.

During the visit, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena provided an extensive introduction to the vision, activities, and humanitarian initiatives of the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre to the Hon’ble Vice President. He highlighted MIMC’s work over the past three decades in the fields of education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, care for vulnerable children, spirituality, Yoga, environmental conservation, and the promotion of peace and interfaith harmony.

The Hon’ble Vice President expressed his deep appreciation for the exemplary leadership of Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena and the remarkable contribution of MIMC towards the welfare of the people of Ladakh. Sharing his impressions after the visit, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan remarked that he was “deeply impressed by MIMC’s remarkable contribution towards education, healthcare, social welfare, environmental sustainability, and the promotion of Yoga and Meditation in Ladakh.” He further observed that “the spirit of compassion, selfless service, harmony, and inclusiveness that permeates the campus is truly inspiring.”

The Hon’ble Vice President particularly appreciated the institution’s holistic approach towards human development, combining educational excellence, humanitarian service, spiritual values, and environmental responsibility. He commended the efforts of Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena and the entire Mahabodhi family in nurturing both the material and spiritual well-being of society while promoting peace and harmony.

In a heartwarming gesture, the Hon’ble Vice President interacted with the children of Mahabodhi and distributed sweets among them, bringing smiles and joy to the young students who had gathered to welcome him.

The Hon’ble Vice President also visited the Sambodhi Campus and the MIMC Buddha Park for World Peace, one of the landmark projects of the institution. During the visit, he expressed his admiration for the vision and dedication of Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena in conceptualizing and developing the Buddha Park as a symbol of peace, compassion, and harmony for Ladakh and the wider world.

The visit underscored the growing recognition of the work being carried out by the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre and its contribution to promoting education, spirituality, social service, Yoga, and universal peace.

The Hon’ble Vice President was accompanied by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Ladakh, Shri Vinay Kumar Saxena, along with senior officials and secretaries of the UT and District Administration.
