Tingmosgang, the birthplace of Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, today organized a warm and special felicitation ceremony in his honour, celebrating his life, achievements, and lifelong service to the people of Ladakh and beyond.
The programme was held as a collective gesture of gratitude and pride by the villagers, who described him as a rare and distinguished son of the soil. In a moving expression of respect, at least one member from nearly every household came forward to offer khatags to Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena.

Village Headman Shri Tsewang Dorjay, while addressing the gathering, expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the villagers for his tireless humanitarian efforts. He stated that such a reception had long been due and congratulated him on receiving several prestigious honours in recent times, including the 2025 Ladakh dSpal rNam Dus Ton Award and the Prime Ministerโs Award for Yoga. He also shared some concerns regarding educational developments in the village, particularly the recent announcement of a Modern School by the UT Administration, and sought his guidance, blessings and cooperation in strengthening the villageโs educational future.

The Zonal Education Officer, Khaltse, welcomed Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena and commended his dedicated service in the field of education. He highlighted that the timely establishment of a branch school in Tingmosgang had enabled many students from the village to pursue quality education and emerge as capable and accomplished individuals.
Shri Tashi Dorjey, Chairman of the Village Education Committee, and Shri Tashi Tundup, Former Councillor of the Tingmosgang Constituency, also addressed the gathering. Both speakers appreciated his contributions across social welfare, education, compassion, and the promotion of peace, expressing special gratitude for his sustained efforts to uplift educational standards in the village.
In his address, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena conveyed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome and shared his happiness at returning to his birthplace. He described Tingmosgang as an auspicious village of great historical and spiritual significance, once the capital of the Ladakh kingdom and home to sacred presences such as Phagspa Chenrazig and Gyalwa Chamba. He also recalled that the village has produced eminent personalities, including the 3rd Drikung Khenchen Rinpoche Konchok Rangdol, Dr. S.T. Phuntsog, and many others who have contributed in spiritual, social, and public life.

As a concrete outcome of the gathering, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena announced a seed contribution of Rs. 2 lakh to establish a special Emergency Relief Fund for the village. He assured the villagers of his continued support and cooperation for the welfare and development of Tingmosgang.
Beyond the felicitation, the gathering carried deeper significance. It strengthened the bond between the community and one of its most respected sons, reaffirmed a shared sense of pride and identity, and created a meaningful platform to discuss the future of education and community development. The event concluded with a renewed spirit of unity, responsibility, and collective commitment toward the progress of Tingmosgang.
