The Mahabodhi Old Age Home is one of the most compassionate and heartwarming projects established by the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) under the visionary leadership of Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena. Founded to provide care and dignity to elderly individuals who have no family or financial support, the Old Age Home embodies the essence of MIMC's guiding principle—“Compassion in Action.” It offers a peaceful, loving, and secure environment where senior citizens can live their later years with respect, comfort, and companionship.

Situated within the serene Mahabodhi Devachan Campus in Choglamsar, Leh, the Old Age Home provides residents with not just food and shelter but also emotional warmth and spiritual care. The elders live in clean, well-maintained rooms surrounded by the tranquil beauty of nature and the comforting atmosphere of the Mahabodhi community. Daily routines include meditation, prayers, light exercise, and social interactions, helping residents remain physically active, mentally alert, and spiritually at peace.

The staff and volunteers at the Old Age Home treat every resident as a family member, offering compassionate care and attention to their physical and emotional needs. Regular health check-ups, recreational activities, and participation in cultural and religious programs bring joy and meaning to their lives. The monks, nuns, and students from the Mahabodhi campus also visit frequently, creating an intergenerational bond rooted in respect and love.

The Mahabodhi Old Age Home stands as a living example of humanity and gratitude—honoring those who have given much to society but now need support in return. Through this initiative, MIMC reaffirms its commitment to serving all beings with kindness and empathy, ensuring that every elder lives with dignity, peace, and a sense of belonging in their twilight years.
