Academic Sessions at International Conference on AI, Spirituality & Education explored the future of learning, teachers and human wisdom
The second day of the International Conference on “AI, Spirituality & Education: Cultivating Human Wisdom in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” at Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh, featured three academic sessions bringing together educationists, academicians, technology experts and spiritual leaders.
The first session, “AI & the Future of Education: Integral Education in an Age of Intelligent Learning,” began with a blessings and reflection by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena and was then moderated by Ms. Simmi Harding, CEO, Global Education Board. Dr. Hari Krishna Maram spoke on “AI and the Evolution of Human Intelligence: Reimagining Education, Ethics, and Consciousness in the Digital Age.” Dr. Yashpaul addressed “Educational Leadership in the Age of Intelligent Systems,” while Ms. Anju Deoskar spoke on “The University of the Future: Human Flourishing, Liberal Education, and AI-Enabled Learning Ecosystems.” Ms. G. Srilata Ramkumar highlighted human values and character formation, while Rev. E.S. Gergan presented “A Biblical Framework for Machine Learning.” The session concluded with remarks by Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena.
The second session, “The Human Teacher in the Age of AI: From Knowledge Transmission to Wisdom Cultivation,” was chaired and moderated by Dr. Pankaj Chandan. Ms. Sapna Simmi Sukul spoke on “From Knowledge Transmission to Wisdom Creation,” Dr. Sandeep Chatterjee on “Leading Institutions Through Technological Disruption,” Shri Dorjey Wangchuk on “AI in Education,” Dr. P.P. Wangchuk on “AI as an Editor and Columnist,” and Dr. Shailendra P. Singh on “AI, Education and Inclusive Development.”
The third session, “Building the Education of Tomorrow: Integral Education, Compassion and the Greater Good,” was moderated by Ms. Sapna Simmi Sukul. Ms. Simmi Harding spoke on “Redefining Global Citizenship,” Mr. Tarakram Maram on “Designing Responsible Intelligence,” Mr. Vinesh A on “Democratizing Intelligence,” Mr. Alexzandar Das on AI and indigenous knowledge, Ms. Akhila M on the limits of machine understanding, and Dr. B.K. Geeta Didi on “Spiritual Intelligence in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.”
Shri S.D. Namgyal, Principal, DIET Leh, attended the second and third sessions as Chief Guest and delivered concluding remarks.
The sessions emphasised that AI can transform education, but wisdom, compassion, ethics, character and human agency must remain at its heart. The day culminated in key recommendations and the Mahabodhi Declaration on AI, Spirituality & Education, focusing on AI in curriculum and pedagogy, teacher preparation, ethical AI, student well-being and human values.
