Mahabodhi School Celebrates 34th Annual Day, Reaffirms Commitment to Integral Education and Human Values
Mahabodhi Attadipo Bhava Higher Secondary School, Leh-Ladakh, celebrated its 34th Annual Day, marking 34 years of Integral Education and reaffirming its commitment to nurturing students through a balanced approach to academics, compassion, wisdom, creativity and character.
The celebration brought together students, teachers, parents, alumni, well-wishers and distinguished guests, and also highlighted the continuing contribution of Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder Chairman of the School and Founder of Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), whose decades of service have made education, compassion, spirituality and social responsibility central to the Mahabodhi vision.
Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour Adv. Tashi Gyalson, Former Chairman, CEC LAHDC Leh, Padma Shri Morup Namgyal, Sr. Vice President, MIMC, and Chief Guest Shri Anand Jain, IPS, DGP, UT Ladakh, appreciated Bhikkhu Sanghasena and the Mahabodhi institutions for their sustained service to society, particularly their efforts in education, humanitarian work, spiritual development and the empowerment of children and young people. They also appreciated the institution's efforts to combine modern education with strong human and ethical values.
The Annual Day also reflected the theme of the ongoing International Conference on AI, Spirituality & Education, with the newly inaugurated Mahabodhi Wisdomtech AI Lab, the first-ever AI Lab in Ladakh, symbolising the school's effort to embrace emerging technology while ensuring that technology remains guided by wisdom, ethics and compassion.
A major highlight of the celebration was the presentation of Special Recognition and Appreciation Awards to individuals who have made significant contributions to and supported the Mahabodhi family. Mahabodhi Special Recognition Awards were presented to Shri Padma Gyalpo, Shri Aman Ullah and Shri Sonam Angchuk (Shanti),. The recognitions acknowledged their long-standing association, service, generosity and support to MIMC and its initiatives. Dr. Hari Krishna Maram was specially recognised for his contribution to education and technology and his collaboration in establishing the first AI Lab in Ladakh.
Mahabodhi Kataññutā Sammanā, or Mahabodhi Gratitude Honour, was presented to Shri Nawang Rinchen in recognition of his generosity, goodwill and invaluable support to the journey and growth of MIMC. Certificates of Appreciation were also presented to Sh. Deskyong Namgyal, Shri Stanzin Othsal and Shri Morup Namgyal for their continued encouragement, goodwill and valuable contribution towards MIMC and Mahabodhi School. Alumni’s Ms. Stanzin Othso and Mr. Jigmet Paljor alongwith Ms. Phuntsog Angmo were also felicitated for their contributions to the school.
The School also recognised its students and teachers. Ms. Tsering Diskit and Mr. Rigzin Namgail were honoured as Best Students of the Year 2026 for their academic performance, discipline, leadership, compassionate spirit and participation in school activities. Ms. Tundup Lamo received the Award for Exemplary Commitment 2026 in recognition of her exceptional dedication and 100% attendance throughout the academic year.
The kindergarten team of teachers was specially appreciated for its dedicated work with young learners and for developing special learning books and materials for the KG children. The Cultural Group of teachers was also felicitated for their dedicated efforts in preparing students for cultural programmes, particularly the additional work undertaken during the winter months and winter vacations.
The celebration featured vibrant student performances, meditation, yoga, cultural presentations, educational reflections and creative expressions, showcasing the school's distinctive approach to holistic development.
The 34th Annual Day concluded with a renewed commitment to the Mahabodhi vision of “Celebrating Compassion • Wisdom • Creativity • Learning”, while looking towards an educational future where Artificial Intelligence and Spiritual Intelligence complement each other in shaping responsible, wise and compassionate human beings.
