Interfaith Conference at MIMC calls for Peace, Compassion and Harmony during sacred Relics Exposition

An Interfaith Conference on the theme “Sacred Wisdom for a Compassionate World: Interfaith Paths to Peace, Harmony, and Human Flourishing” was successfully organised at the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre as part of the ongoing Sacred Grand Exposition of the Holy Relics of the Tathāgat Buddha in Ladakh.

Organised jointly by MIMC and the Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh, the conference brought together eminent spiritual leaders, scholars, and representatives from Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Christian, Jain, Baháʼí, and Brahma Kumaris traditions to promote interfaith understanding, compassion, and collective responsibility for peace.

Welcoming the delegates, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder and Spiritual Director of MIMC, emphasised the urgent need for greater harmony and spiritual dialogue in today’s world. He stated that while religions may differ in practices and traditions, they all guide humanity towards compassion, wisdom, peace, and service.

The conference featured inspiring addresses by several distinguished religious leaders including Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni, Goswami Sushil Ji Maharaj, Imam Umer Ahmed Ilyasi, Sardar Paramjeet Singh Chandok, Dr. A.K. Merchant, Sulekha Kumbhare, and Dr. Binny Sareen, among others. Speakers highlighted the shared spiritual values of non-violence, universal brotherhood, social justice, compassion, and peaceful coexistence.

Senior officials from the UT Administration including Ms. Bhanu Prabha, IAS, Shri Ashish Kundra, IAS, and Shri Sanjit Rodrigues, IAS, also attended the conference and appreciated the initiative for strengthening interfaith harmony and peacebuilding.

Thailand

The conference concluded with a collective Peace Declaration and multi-faith prayers for universal peace, harmony, and human flourishing. The gathering reflected the timeless relevance of the Buddha’s teachings and the shared responsibility of all faith traditions in building a more compassionate and peaceful world.
