Yogathon, Yoga Session and Prayers for World Peace Mark Second Day Of International Festival Of Yoga And Meditation 2026

The second day of the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation (IFYM) 2026, being organized by the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), commenced on a vibrant and inspiring note with a Yogathon from MIMC Devachan Campus to Sindhu Ghat, bringing together participants from different walks of life in a collective celebration of health, mindfulness, and peace.

The Yogathon began at 6:30 AM from the MIMC Devachan Campus and concluded at Sindhu Ghat at around 7:30 AM. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Northwest Frontier, Leh, students of MIMC Devachan, Venerable Sangha members from the Mahabodhi Society, Bengaluru, as well as delegates and participants from India and various countries abroad attending the festival.

Students participating in the Yogathon carried colourful placards displaying messages and slogans promoting the values of Yoga, Meditation, healthy living, peace, and harmony, creating awareness among the public and spreading the festival's message of holistic well-being.

Upon reaching Sindhu Ghat, participants took part in a serene and energizing Yoga session conducted by Ms. Rishika Sangwan, Yoga Teacher and Expert from The Yoga Institute, Mumbai. The session included various Yoga practices and breathing exercises aimed at promoting physical health, mental clarity, and emotional balance.

Addressing the gathering, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena, Founder-President and Spiritual Director of MIMC, highlighted the growing relevance of Yoga and Meditation in contemporary society. He particularly emphasized their importance in the lives of paramilitary personnel, who often serve under challenging conditions, as well as students and young people who face increasing stress and distractions in modern life. He noted that Yoga and Meditation help cultivate resilience, discipline, concentration, emotional stability, and inner peace.

Adding a spiritual dimension to the morning programme, the Venerable Sangha members from the Mahabodhi Society, Bengaluru, led by Most Ven. Kassapa Thera, offered special prayers for world peace on the banks of the sacred River Sindhu. The prayer ceremony invoked harmony, compassion, and goodwill for all beings and reflected the core vision of the festival to promote peace and understanding across cultures and nations.

As a gesture of appreciation and gratitude, a special commemorative souvenir of the International Festival of Yoga and Meditation 2026 was presented to the officials of the ITBP Northwest Frontier, Leh, in recognition of their enthusiastic participation and continued support for the festival's activities.

The International Festival of Yoga and Meditation 2026, which is being attended by distinguished guests, Yoga experts, spiritual leaders, scholars, and participants from India and abroad, will continue throughout the week with seminars, workshops, meditation sessions, cultural programmes, and Yoga activities at various iconic locations across Ladakh, culminating on 21 June 2026, the International Day of Yoga
