The event marks the largest non-sectarian Vajrayana Buddhist Global Peace Prayer, uniting representatives from all schools of Vajrayana Buddhism as well as other Buddhist traditions, including Theravada. The gathering embodies Bhutan’s enduring commitment to peace, harmony, and inter-sectarian unity.

During the prayer ceremony, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena met with members of the Indian delegation, who have brought the sacred relics of Lord Buddha to Bhutan for public veneration — a gesture that has deeply inspired countless devotees.

The Global Peace Prayer has witnessed an unprecedented turnout, with an estimated 85,000 to 100,000 devotees attending each day. By early morning, Changlimithang Stadium and Centenary Park were filled with monks, nuns, and lay followers gathered in deep reverence and devotion.

The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, is also scheduled to attend the Global Buddhist Prayer and the 70th Birth Anniversary celebrations of His Majesty the Great Fourth, further symbolizing the deep spiritual and cultural ties between India and Bhutan.
