In his address, Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena highlighted that the world today faces unprecedented challenges, and peace is the most urgent need of our time. He emphasized that the Black-necked Crane stands as a true symbol of peace and harmony, linking both nature and spirituality. He also spoke about the presence of these sacred birds in the eastern parts of Ladakh, which migrate seasonally between Ladakh and Bhutan.

Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena expressed deep appreciation for Bhutan’s exemplary efforts in preserving its ancient Buddhist heritage and natural environment. He lauded the visionary leadership of His Majesty the Fourth King for guiding the nation towards holistic and sustainable development.

Recalling the visits of members of the Royal Family to Ladakh and MIMC — including HRH Ashi Kesang Wangmo Wangchuk in August 2015 and Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Tseyring Pem Wangchuck, along with HRH Princess Ashi Kesang Chodren Wangchuck in September 2025 — he expressed heartfelt gratitude for their continued support and spiritual connection.

Drawing from the Buddha’s teaching of Paticca Samuppada (Dependent Origination), he reminded that humanity cannot hope to live in balance without deep respect and care for nature.

The workshop was attended by eminent environmentalists and conservationists, including Dasho Paljor J. Dorji — renowned Bhutanese environmentalist, judge, and diplomat — along with several government officials and leaders from across Bhutan.

Ven. Bhikkhu Sanghasena concluded his keynote by extending a warm invitation to the participants and organizers to visit Ladakh, proposing that the next, Black-necked Crane Festival be held there — celebrating the shared commitment to peace, compassion, and conservation.
